Cape Town is undoubtedly one of my favourite places to visit in South Africa. There is something so unique and so special about it. Not may places in the world are engulfed by a stunning coast line, and a majestic mountain range.
Cape Town is not only physically beautiful, but the city is always brimming with culture and buzzing with activity. There are new restaurants, bars, cafes and quirky boutique stores opening and making their own unique mark in the constantly growing and evolving city.
As I have found myself spending more time in Cape Town over the past couple of years, and wanting to go back again and again, I have decided to write an on going post/a diary, that I will update with new diary entries of all my favourite places in CT. There are far too many beautiful places to see, and thrilling activities to participate in. So, as and when I visit, I will post all the good stuff for you all.
Read on to discover all of Cape Town’s hot spots!!

ENTRY 1: Sexy Food
This tiny little restaurant tucked away in one of the many quirky corners of Bree Street, is not only the perfect place to meet friends and catch up over something healthy, but it has such an inspiring story behind it.
The founder James Kuiper was diagnosed with lymphatic cancer when he was just 17. Discovering he was highly allergic to processed foods made him determind to cut these out of his diet and find a new and clean way of eating. He spent a year at a sprout and micro-green farm, which inspired him to make a veggie burger patty which became a hit at various Cape Town markets. Eventually, after time, research, introducing fermented foods into his diet and seeing the change in his health, he is now 30 and founder of Sexy Food.
Sexy Food has such an inviting, rustic and organic feel to it, and the Biotic Menu (see photo below), offers incredible dishes, made of fermented, probiotic food, that tastes better than you could imagine.
The food is so full of flavour and texture, and once you’ve tried it you will be hooked. There are also jars of real live probiotic condiments that you can buy and take home with you. These include Kombucha, milk kefer and cultured veg to name a few. These “sexy condiments” as well as the Biotic menu, promote “supreme gut health” and many other health benifits. So, for all us girls on the healthy eating train, this food is completely guilt free! Winning!!
I loved eating at Sexy Food, and was fascinated by the menu and all the nutritional info they provide for each dish. When you next visit Cape Town, I highly suggest you make time to visit this interesting little restaurant, as it has so much to offer and the food is absolutely delicious.
ENTRY 2: Chelsea Village
On my last trip to Cape Town, I was lucky enough to be introduced to Chelsea Village in Wynberg. It is a quaint little village full of amazing restaurants and boutique stores, and being so tucked away, it almost feels undiscovered.
My day at Chelsea Village started with a breakfast date at Four & Twenty, with my Mom and our lovely friends. Our French inspired breakfast was delicious, and Four & Twenty’s cottage-like interior, with mismatched furniture and thoughtful finishing touches, really gave the cafe so much character.
Four & Twenty is like a little piece of Paris, in Cape Town. I loved my whole experience there and can highly recommend you try it out when you are next in CT.
With satisfied stomachs we ventured out from our cosy spot at Four & Twenty to explore some of the exquisite interior design stores that Chelsea Village has to offer.
My favourites were:
Block & Chisel
Block & Chisel started out as “a natural progression, beginning with a simple passion for antique furniture and leading up to the rough hewn, handcrafted pieces that they produce today”. The McAdams (the founders), were “inspired by classic lasting designs and techniques of the past”, and created a look that was “unmistakably Block & Chisel”.
I love modern, minimalistic interiors, but there is always the perfect spot in your home for an antique piece. So I loved this store and the history behind it.
The Gate House
The Gate House is filled with “a collection of exclusively designed and well selected furniture and decorative accessories” perfectly suited to a smart and elegant home.
This store offers chic and different pieces, providing customers with a completely unique design experience. When you are looking for pieces to really make a statement in your home, this is where to look.
Hertex
Hertex, is a homeware store with its own story, and by now, you know that I love stores with history, and an inspiring story behind them.
From humble beginnings in 1987, the founders, Peter and Coba Herrman have since transformed Hertex into the largest fabric company in South Africa.
With their vast experience of selling fabrics, the Herrmans’ “impressive fabric portfolio established them as a serious player in the fabric industry”. The Hertex collections include fabrics perfect for “upholstery or curtaining and feature cutting edge designs and colours that are on the pulse of international trends”.
Hertex is definitely a store you need to see when you are next in CT and wondering around Chelsea Village. I was so intrigued looking around this store, and it’s inspiring stories like this one that encourage us all to follow our career dreams.
